About The Dishman-White Family Tree
Please sign in to see more. The Dishman-White Family Tree identifies our ancestors and links them back to counties of old Ireland -- Longford, Limerick and Laois -- where they emigrated from in 1850-1875, escaping famine and looking for a better life. One story tells of our great-grandmother Teresa Keating longing to go back to her Irish homeland and her daughter, Mary, promising to fulfill that wish for her. Indeed, her grand daughter, Barbara Dishman, carried out that wish in 1997 and stood on the docks of Cobh, County Cork where her great- grandmother had waited 128 years earlier to embark on her trip to America with her brothers Edward and Patrick. One of my quests is to find if our Cox, Keating, Mahoney, Walsh, Clifton, and Bolger clans are still thriving in Ireland today!
The German sides of our family come from Westphalia and Bavaria -- rural farm areas that I visted in the Summer of 2003. I found the villages and churches of our Wagner and Jordan ancestors and have lots of pictures, including some watercolors of how the tiny village of Hüflar looks today, preserved from the days of Johannes Wagner, my 3rd great grandfather. He was a carpenter and town ombudsman, who lived in this 1800 Bavarian village with his family when Napoleon was on the march.
PHOTOS: The dates on the older photos in the attached albums are approximate -- the oldest one of our Jordan ancestors is from about 1860.
RESEARCH AREAS: Looking for the part of Germany (Prussia) where Heinrich Dischmann came from and looking for the origins of the White and Bracken clans - may be English or Irish?
